Uruguay

Uruguay is a small country located in South America, known for its beautiful beaches, charming colonial towns, and vibrant culture. The capital city, Montevideo, offers a mix of modern and historic architecture, as well as a lively nightlife scene. Visitors can also explore the picturesque town of Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or relax on the sandy beaches of Punta del Este. Uruguay is also famous for its delicious cuisine, including traditional dishes such as asado (barbecue) and chivito (a sandwich with steak, ham, cheese, and vegetables). With friendly locals and a laid-back atmosphere, Uruguay is a great destination for those looking for a unique and authentic South American experience.

Uruguay Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Uruguay. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
