Timor-Leste (East Timor)

Timor-Leste, also known as East Timor, is a small country located in Southeast Asia. It is a relatively new country, having gained independence from Indonesia in 2002. Timor-Leste is known for its stunning natural beauty, including pristine beaches, lush rainforests, and rugged mountains. The country is also rich in culture, with a unique blend of Portuguese, Indonesian, and indigenous influences. Travelers can explore historic sites such as the Santa Cruz Cemetery and the Resistance Museum, or enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, diving, and surfing. Despite its troubled past, Timor-Leste is a safe and welcoming destination for adventurous travelers looking to experience a different side of Southeast Asia.

Timor-Leste (East Timor) Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Timor-Leste (East Timor). This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
