Peru is a country in South America that offers a unique blend of ancient history, stunning natural beauty, and vibrant culture. Visitors can explore the iconic Machu Picchu, a 15th-century Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains, or take a boat ride on the Amazon River to see exotic wildlife and lush rainforests. The capital city of Lima is a bustling metropolis with a rich culinary scene, while the coastal town of Paracas offers beautiful beaches and the opportunity to see sea lions and penguins. Peru is also home to many indigenous communities that offer a glimpse into traditional ways of life. With its diverse attractions and friendly people, Peru is a must-visit destination for any traveler.

Peru Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Peru. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
