Republic of the Congo

The Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville, is a small country located in Central Africa. It is a destination for adventurous travelers seeking to explore the country's lush rainforests, diverse wildlife, and vibrant culture. The capital city, Brazzaville, is a bustling metropolis with a mix of French colonial architecture and modern buildings. Visitors can also explore the stunning beaches along the Atlantic coast, go on safari in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park, and experience the traditional music and dance of the local people. However, travelers should be aware of safety concerns and political instability in certain areas of the country.

Republic of the Congo Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants 6 to 11 months old should get one dose of the MMR vaccine prior to traveling outside of the U.S., primarily for protection against measles.
