Honduras
Honduras is a Central American country that offers a diverse range of attractions for tourists. The country boasts beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, ancient Mayan ruins, and vibrant cities. Roatán, one of the Bay Islands, is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling, while Copán is home to impressive Mayan ruins. The capital city of Tegucigalpa offers a mix of modern amenities and historic architecture, while the colonial town of Gracias provides a glimpse into Honduras' rich history. Visitors can also enjoy traditional Honduran cuisine, including baleadas and pupusas, and experience the country's vibrant culture through music, dance, and art. However, travelers should exercise caution and be aware of safety concerns in certain areas of the country.
Honduras Immunization Recommendations and Requirements
Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.
Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Honduras. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
