Rwanda
Rwanda, known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills," is a small but stunning country located in East Africa. It is home to some of the most breathtaking landscapes, including lush rainforests, rolling hills, and serene lakes. Visitors can experience the country's rich culture and history by visiting the Genocide Memorial in Kigali, which pays tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide. Rwanda is also famous for its gorilla trekking tours, where visitors can get up close and personal with the endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. With friendly locals, delicious cuisine, and a vibrant arts scene, Rwanda is a must-visit destination for any adventurous traveler.
Rwanda Immunization Recommendations and Requirements
Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.
Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Rwanda. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
