Benin

Benin is a West African country that offers a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Tourists can explore the vibrant markets and colorful streets of Cotonou, the country's largest city, or visit the ancient royal palaces and temples of Abomey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The country is also home to stunning national parks, such as Pendjari and W National Park, where visitors can spot elephants, lions, and other wildlife. Benin's rich cultural heritage is evident in its music, dance, and art, and tourists can experience traditional festivals and ceremonies throughout the year. With its warm hospitality and diverse attractions, Benin is a must-visit destination for any traveler looking for an authentic African experience.

Benin Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Benin. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
