Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan is a country located in Central Asia that offers a unique and authentic travel experience for tourists. The country is known for its stunning landscapes, including the Karakum Desert and the ancient city of Merv, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Turkmenistan is also home to the world's largest indoor Ferris wheel, the Ashgabat Ferris Wheel, and the impressive Akhal-Teke horses, which are considered one of the most beautiful horse breeds in the world. Visitors can also enjoy the country's rich culture, including traditional music, dance, and cuisine. However, it is important to note that Turkmenistan has strict visa requirements and limited tourism infrastructure, so it is recommended to plan ahead and book with a reputable tour operator.
Turkmenistan Immunization Recommendations and Requirements
Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.
Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Turkmenistan. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
