Suriname

Suriname is a small country located on the northeastern coast of South America, known for its diverse culture, stunning natural beauty, and rich history. The country is home to a mix of indigenous, African, Indian, and Dutch cultures, which can be seen in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals. Tourists can explore the lush rainforests, spot exotic wildlife, and visit the historic plantations and museums. The capital city, Paramaribo, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a vibrant nightlife scene. Suriname is also a great destination for adventure seekers, with opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and river cruises. With its warm climate, friendly locals, and unique blend of cultures, Suriname is a must-visit destination for any traveler looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience.

Suriname Immunization Recommendations and Requirements

Before traveling, make sure you are up-to-date on all of your routine immunizations including influenza and COVID-19. Note that many vaccines that are now considered "routine" were not available until recent decades so you may not have received them at all, depending on your age and other factors.

Infants, 6 to 11 months old should receive one dose of MMR and Hepatitis A prior to visiting Suriname. This does not count toward routine childhood immunizations.
